What is the Bookmobile?

 

The bookmobile travels around the county providing Library services to the rural areas of the county. 
Bookmobile Librarian
Pam Chaliff is the Rockcastle County Public Library Bookmobile Librarian.  She has served as Bookmobile Librarian since 1990.  Pam is friendly, outgoing, and eager to help those in the community who might be in need of the Bookmobile services.  For more information or to possibly be added to her schedule call the Rockcastle County Library at (606) 256-2388 and leave a message for Pam.
Where Does the Bookmobile Go 
& How Often?
The Bookmobile travels on a four week rotating schedule.  Service is provided 12 months a year; weather permitting.  The Bookmobile serves individual homes, apartment units, the nursing home, the adult day care center, the respiratory care unit of the local hospital, and many shut-ins who are unable to get out of their homes. 
What Ages Does the Bookmobile Serve?
People of all ages use the Bookmobile; for example; babies to a woman who is over 90 yrs.
What Kind of Materials Are Available 
on the Bookmobile?
Pam keeps a wide variety of subject areas on the Bookmobile for the varied ages that she serves.  The different sections include non-fiction, biographies, adult fiction, juvenile fiction, easy books, large print books, and magazines.  If a requested book or material is unavailable on the Bookmobile, but is available at the Main Library, then, if accessible, the Bookmobile will try to deliver the requested materials on the next scheduled stop.
